Jenny Green - Clinical Professor (Media and Outreach)

I'm a native of Australia with a Ph.D. in physical chemistry from Sydney University. I did postdoctoral research at Purdue and also here at ASU. After a couple of years back in Australia I was drawn back to ASU... I'm very much enjoying the outreach work in the department.

Ingo Grotjohann - Faculty Associate
After finishing my Master’s degree in biochemistry and my Ph.D. in Berlin with the chloroplast ATPase, I spent the following years researching membrane transport at the medical department of the Free University Berlin. During that time I was teaching such diverse topics as electrochemistry for biologists or physiology for medical students. When I came to Arizona, I was happy to return to my “old love,” photosynthesis. Finally, I was lucky to be asked to teach a general chemistry lecture this year, as I always enjoyed teaching. I hope it shows.

Carolyn Livingston- Secretary Administrative (General Chemistry Program)

I was born in Yuma, AZ, raised in Tacoma, WA and moved to Livonia, MI in 1990. I worked at Stevenson H.S. in Livonia for 15 years as a secretary in the attendance office. When we visited Phoenix in August of 2006 my husband and I fell in love with the area. I hope to work here for a long time as I really like all the people whom I work with and for.

Craig Magee - Manager of Crystal X-Ray facility
I moved here from Louisiana in 1994 and have been working in the Chemistry and Biochemistry Department since 1997. In 2006 I received my Ph.D. in chemistry under the advisement of Dr. James Allen and have since been managing the Protein X-Ray Diffraction Facility. In my spare time I enjoy cycling with my wife Kirstin and spending time in the great outdoors.

Kirstin Hendrickson Magee - Lecturer

I received my Ph.D. from ASU in August, 2006, and have been teaching elsewhere during the interim. I am pleased to be returning to ASU as a lecturer in general chemistry. In my free time, I enjoy running and cycling.

Nancy Mapes - Secretary (Main Office)

After teaching for over 10 years I’m trying something new. I enjoy the lively atmosphere of the office and have met so many interesting people. In my spare time, I like to read, play with our two Scottish Terriers, and watch my daughters (both at ASU) participate in sports.

I graduated from Arizona State University in 2003 with a Bachelors in engineering. My family has been in Arizona since 1981. I am currently learning how to sew and understand Greek.

Allan Scruggs - Faculty Associate

I received my Ph.D. from the ASU Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry in 2004, after that I was a postdoctoral researcher at the Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix for two years. I returned in the spring of 2007 to teach general chemistry classes, which I really enjoy a great deal. I also work with the Biodesign Institute at ASU, doing research on generating alternative fuels.

Shelly Seerley- Faculty Associate
I graduated from The University of Georgia with a BS Chem degree and came out to ASU for graduate school. Under the direction of Mark Hayes, I received my Masters in the summer of 2007. When given the opportunity, I chose to stay at ASU as a faculty associate, and look forward to participating in the general chemistry course redesign.
