Alumni Story
Ed Trujillo (B.S. Chemistry' 67) - 2006-2007 CLAS Alumni Leadership Council, Secretary of the Executive Committee

Ed Trujillo was born and reared in the Phoenix area. He graduated from North Phoenix High School, Phoenix College, and Arizona State University with a B.S. in Chemistry in 1967. After attending ASU as a graduate student for one year, majoring in secondary education and completing student teaching, he started a career in forensic science with the Phoenix Police Crime Laboratory. After four years with the Phoenix police, he was employed by the Arizona Department of Public Safety Crime Lab system for 31 years. The career in forensic science included applying principles of chemical analysis, biochemistry and related sciences to the analysis and comparison of all kinds of evidence retrieved from crime scenes. According to Ed, the education he received from ASU in science, education, and other classes were extremely helpful in his career advancement and he was able to retire as the manager of the Arizona DPS Crime Lab in Phoenix. Ed has served on the CLAS Leadership Council Chapter of the ASU Alumni Association for several years and appreciates the opportunity to give back something to ASU for the excellent education which led to an exciting and rewarding 35 year career in forensic science. Time spent in retirement is mostly volunteer work for ASU and the Elks organization as youth activities chairman. With his interest in golf, physical fitness, home projects, some travel, and his seven grandchildren, Ed wonders how he had time to go to work.
