D-210 Grad Student Computer Lab Usage Policies
- This Lab is for use of Chemistry graduate students, faculty, staff and approved classes only.
- The lab may be occasionally reserved for class use. A schedule of such times will be posted outside the door to the lab.
- No food or drinks are allowed inside the lab.
- Keep the lab door closed at all times.
- Log on to the computers with your LA_CHEMISTRY research group account for full access to all resources. Printing to the large format printer is not allowed from generic (GSLAB) accounts. It is important that you log off when done so that another user does not have unauthorized access to your account. There is a 15 minute inactivity timeout after which, you session will automatically be logged out for your protection.
- Do NOT install, modify, or delete any software on the computers. If you have a need for specific software, please ask for the assistance of support staff.
- Files left on the computers may be deleted at any time without notice! Back up your work or save it to your group folder on LA_CHEMISTRY/Chem Users.
- Computers in the lab may not be used for illegal or inappropriate purposes, including, but not limited to, unauthorized copying of copyrighted material. - There is a charge per linear foot of paper for using the large format printer. Please record your paper use in the log.( Please read the instruction before you start to print )
- Problems with lab equipment should be reported to Mary Zhu (D201). Phone 7-8389 or, in her absence, the Electronics and Computer Support Facility (C6) at 5-3241.
Access to the lab is monitored through the electronic key system.
It is expected that users provide a level of self-management that includes decorum, decency and proper protocol.
