List of Equipment

Porton (Beckman) 2090 E gas-phase protein sequencer
The fee for protein sequencing  is $10 (set-up) + $5 per cycle.
Hewlett-Packard AminoQuant amino acid analyzer
The fee for polypeptide hydrolysis & amino acid $12.50 set up + $7.50 per sample analyzed.

Voyager DE STR MALDI-TOF mass spectrometer, including Proteomics Solution 1 Data Station and Symbiot sample preparation system
The fee for mass determinations by MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry:  $10 per sample analysis for work done by facility personnel, or $25 per hour for instrument use by the person whose sample is being analyzed.

Milligen-Biosearch (PerSeptive Biosystems) 9050+ Peptide Synthesizer.
The fee for peptide synthesis includes a set up fee that is typically $40-$45 (depending on the type of resin used) and the fee per amino acid residue in the peptide is $10 - 12 (depending on the amino acid activation chemistry) for the most commonly used 0.2 mmole scale.  Fees are slightly lower for smaller scale syntheses and higher for larger scales.  This fee includes cleaving the product from the resin, ether precipitation, and drying the product, but not further purification.

Beckman HPLC system.
Fee = $2.50 per hour for instrument use + 1% of the price of the HPLC column used if the column is supplied by the protein chem. lab.

Beckman P/ACE 2050 capillary electrophoresis system.
Fee = $2.50 per hour of instrument use + 2% of the cost of the capillary used if a special (usually expensive) capillary provided by the protein chem. lab. is required.

Jasco 710 Spectropolarimeter.
Equipped with a temperature controller for spectropolarimeter cells, allowing thermal denaturation experiments, and automatic titration accessory for chemical denaturation experiments. Fee = $3.00 per hour.

Shimadzu RF 551 fluorometer.
This instrument was originally purchased as a HPLC fluorescence detector, but was converted to a scanning spectrofluorometer.  Fee = $1.00 per hour.

Perseptive Biosystems Sprint perfusion chromatography system.
Fee = $3.00 per hour.

API 365 triple quadrupole electrospray mass spectrometer (Applied Biosystems) with turboionspray and nanospray ion sources and syringe pump for feeding samples into turboionspray source.
Fee = $10/hour or $10 per sample for work done by facility personnel.

Savant SpeedVac vacuum centrifuge.
Fee = $0.50 per hour - overnight runs counted as 12 hours
