Graduate students are supported through either teaching or research assistantships at a rate of $17,355 for an academic (9 month) year. Incoming students are also given a summer graduate assistantship stipend of $5,785, yielding a total salary of $23,140 in the first year (2004/2005).
After the first year, students are guaranteed support during the academic year for an additional four years via teaching and/or research assistantships, contingent upon satisfactory progress in the program.
